The breather should remain connected to the filter/airbox to burn up blow-by gasses and to keep outside air from finding it's way into the crankcase. If the oil level is correct AND you're getting significant discharge from the breather, something else is to blame.

Now the crankcase breather filter releases white smoke and I am not sure why. It did not do this before when I had the turbo oil return line feeding into the clutch basket next to the oil fill cap.
